A delicious and easy-to-make cheesy beef stuffed French bread, perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.

  • 1 large loaf French bread
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely diced
  • 1/2 cup red bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce (or tomato sauce)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (for topping)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (optional, for brushing bread)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Prep the bread: Slice the French bread lengthwise and gently hollow out some of the soft center to create a ‘boat.’ Place in a baking dish.
  3. Cook the beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef with onion and red bell pepper until browned and softened. Drain excess grease.
  4. Season + sauce: Stir in garlic, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, pepper, and marinara. Simmer 2–3 minutes until thickened.
  5. Fill the bread: Spoon the beef mixture evenly into the bread halves.
  6. Add cheese: Sprinkle mozzarella over the top.
  7. Bake: Bake 12–15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly. Broil 1–2 minutes for extra golden spots (watch closely).
  8. Finish: Sprinkle with chopped parsley, slice, and serve warm.
