Chicken Parmesan

A classic Italian dish featuring crispy breaded chicken topped with marinara sauce and melted cheese, served over spaghetti.

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 1/2 cups Italian-style breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil, for frying
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 12 oz spaghetti
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook spaghetti according to package directions; drain and set aside.
  2. Pound chicken breasts to even thickness.
  3. Set up three bowls: flour in one, eggs mixed with milk in the second, breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning in the third.
  4. Dredge chicken in flour, dip in egg mixture, then coat in breadcrumb mixture.
  5. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry chicken for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  7. Transfer chicken to a baking dish, spoon marinara sauce over each piece, and top with mozzarella cheese.
  8. Bake for 15–20 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly and chicken is cooked through.
  9. Serve chicken over spaghetti with extra marinara sauce and garnish with parsley.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, let the breaded chicken rest for 10 minutes before frying.
  • Use fresh mozzarella for a creamier texture.
  • You can substitute chicken breasts with chicken cutlets to skip the pounding step.
