  • 1 lb ground Italian sausage (or ground beef)
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup low sugar pizza sauce (or marinara)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2025 pepperoni slices
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. In a 10-inch oven-safe skillet, brown the sausage over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess grease if needed.
  3. Add onion and cook 2–3 minutes until softened. Stir in garlic and cook 30 seconds.
  4. Stir in pizza sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer 2 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan evenly over the top.
  6. Arrange pepperoni slices over the cheese.
  7. Transfer skillet to the oven and bake 15–18 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly. Broil 1–2 minutes for extra browning (watch closely).
  8. Sprinkle with parsley, slice, and serve hot.

  • Swap pepperoni for other toppings like mushrooms or olives if preferred.
