A quick and flavorful one-pan meal featuring seared sausage, colorful bell peppers, and onions tossed in a sweet and spicy honey garlic glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 14 oz smoked sausage (or kielbasa), sliced into 1-inch coins
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced into strips
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced into strips
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup chicken broth
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
  • Cooked white rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil.
  2. Add the sliced sausage and sear for 3–4 minutes, flipping to brown both sides.
  3. Add the sliced peppers and onion. Cook 6–8 minutes, stirring often, until softened but still colorful.
  4. Stir in the garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together chicken broth, honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, crushed red pepper flakes (if using), black pepper, and smoked paprika.
  6. Pour the sauce into the skillet and stir well. Simmer 3–5 minutes, letting the sauce thicken and glaze the sausage and veggies.
  7. Serve hot over cooked rice and spoon extra sauce on top.

Notes

  • Adjust red pepper flakes to control spice level.
  • Use turkey sausage for a leaner option.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
