Sticky Honey Garlic Chicken

A quick and flavorful chicken dish with a sticky honey garlic sauce, perfect for weeknight dinners.

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • ¼ cup honey
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 cups cooked white rice
  • 2 green onions, finely sliced
  • Crispy chili threads or chili crisp (optional)
  • Sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken thighs with salt and black pepper.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Sear the chicken for 5–6 minutes per side until golden brown and fully cooked.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and brown sugar.
  5. Pour the sauce into the skillet with the chicken and simmer for 3–4 minutes.
  6. Mix the cornstarch with water to create a slurry, then stir it into the sauce.
  7. Cook another 1–2 minutes until the sauce becomes thick and glossy.
  8. Slice the chicken into strips.
  9. Fill serving bowls with warm white rice.
  10. Arrange the sliced chicken over the rice and spoon the extra sauce on top.
  11. Garnish with sliced green onions, sesame seeds, and crispy chili threads if desired.
  12. Serve immediately.

  • Adjust honey and soy sauce to taste.
  • For extra crispiness, pan-sear chicken longer.
  • Serve with steamed vegetables for a balanced meal.
